Tenth Twilight Application
Full Canon Name: Fiona Belli and Hewie
Canon: Haunting Ground
Canon Justification: It's on the approved canons list, but a basic reiteration would state that it is a survival horror game, which not only has the classic horror elements, but many detailed and gruesome deaths and options on how to down your opponents, as well as the added effect of the main character being completely human and unable to easily blow through challenges. She runs, hides, and gets scared, along the way struggling through the mysteries within. The main storyline and mysteries deviate from an acceptable society norm, and its a kind of askew game.
Age: 18 and 4.
In-Game Name: Same.
Gender: Female. Male.
Role in tenthtwilight: Going with guest.
Appearance:
Fiona's an average British girl, tall with blue eyes and short white-blond hair that she keeps back when she's able, though she does not seem to mind it down. She's seemingly unemotional--her face is almost always neutral except in times of duress. Even then, her emotions seem muted, except when she panics, in which everything is thrown to the wind. She's normally seen in a short pleated brown skirt, and a cream renaissance blouse, complete with lace edges and tied at the back. A pair of knee high black socks and deerskin boots complete the ensemble, along with a black choker at her throat. Her outfit was custom made, but she stated it seemed a little tight--like it was made to almost uncomfortably accent her curves. She also has a scar on her left shoulder blade.
Hewie is a large, white German Shepherd with bright, dark eyes. No collar adorns his neck--his last one is lying in a dark basement.
Personality:
Fiona is the typical diligent student--quiet and well-mannered; soft-spoken and very polite. She mostly keeps to herself, and is fine by herself and her thoughts. She's the unemotional type, and doesn't show what she's feeling at all. The main emotions that she reacts to is genuine joy, like being around her dog, and fear. Her thoughts are her own, and though she's reserved, she's quick-witted and mentally agile. Through her own habits and her history, she excels at puzzles and strategy.
While quiet and polite, Fiona is not introverted, and does not let people walk over her. She doesn't just accept the hand that's given, and instead of sitting and sobbing about things, she tries to move forward, constantly looking for the next step in what to do. In that, she is strong willed, and takes strength from her desperation. Instead of letting it overtake her, she lets it fuel her. She prioritizes thinking over emotions, and doesn't allow them to control her--except for fear. Raised as a normal, everyday average girl, Fiona isn't used to graphic horror in that sense--things that scare and disturb her make her react, from shrieking to running fearfully in a blind panic. Even with that hindrance, being fearful and frozen at the things that could harm her, Fiona is willing to do whatever it takes to survive and thrive. Disliking violence, still she is not a pacifist. Between her life and the ones attacking her, she is willing to stop them if she can, to the point of murder in whatever way is available--from a cliff to a conveyor belt. The fact that she could quickly and efficiently make these life and death decisions might say something about her mental health, but it also points to a supremely high survival instinct. She may not have liked what she did, but she had no regrets.
Despite her background, Fiona has a hard time believing in the supernatural, being genuinely surprised at some of the alchemical processes in the game, and downright fearful at some of the others. She sees it basically as another puzzle, and if mixing ingredients and saying certain words solves it, then there it is. While she doesn't accept situations she's in, she accepts the world to a degree, and the gradual truth of alchemy and the occult history of the house became accepted, even as she didn't fully believe in it.
The whole Belli Castle situation has made her slightly paranoid. She's wary of people in general, and cautious about new places--always looking for things that could be concealed traps, or used as such, or hiding places. Despite the fact that she almost expects ulterior motives, Fiona is still a friendly person, and willing to help those that need it. Used to mind games and being manipulated, she still prefers her solitude, not easily becoming close with anyone.
Interestingly enough, she's amazingly good with animals, though it could just be Hewie. The dog was perfectly trained within days, and remained exceeding loyal to Fiona, willing and able to defend her to the death. In turn, he became a source of hope and love to her, and gave her strength to see everything through.
She's strengthened from her time at the castle, but she is still the fearful girl. She won't be as hesitant to react with her will backing her, and she will definitely try to work through the mysteries that will surround her, even when she's terrified out of her mind.
Hewie is as strong-willed as Fiona, if not more--shirking collars and ownership like the plague. His background is entirely unknown, and how he got to the estate--or why--is left unknown. Something obviously happened in his past if his base reactions to people are any clue. At first, he growls at Fiona and runs, and is still slightly wary of her as she tries to help him. He repays kindness in kind, however, coming to her aid soon after she releases him. After that, he remained nearby to her by choice--wandering off at times, but coming when she called. He became more loyal and devoted along the course of the their time there, obeying her commands explicitly without much training and retrieving items that he had found for her. In combat, he was able to perform different tasks, from leaping on Fiona's attacker to just attacking the limb with the weapon. He's efficient in a at times disturbing degree--using base instinct to focus on the points of weakness in his opponents to crush and maim. He understands basic talk to a degree, but only is willing to listen to Fiona. He becomes entirely devoted to her--described even, as fiercely loyal--and thinks nothing of stepping between her and any enemies. His loyalty is overwhelming, but he still is his own dog, and does not blindly obey. Even his love for her doesn't change his mind at times, as when he rushed to attack Riccardo despite her calls. He's extremely distrustful of all people, and is not a friendly dog. He would keep his distance from others, as long as they don't prove a threat. He could possibly be coaxed by Fiona to accept others, but that would mean she had accepted them herself.
Strengths/Abilities:
Fiona's strength lies in the mind. She is, by no means, a genius, but she seems to have a tactical advantage in planning traps and figuring out puzzles. Even if there's not a solution, she may find an alternative means of success. She also is magical at finding any hiding place available--though, how obvious they are, depends on her emotional state. She knows a little more than basic first-aid, since she was able to help Hewie in the few minutes she had after he was shot.
Hewie has all the advantages to being a large dog--teeth, claws, heightened senses, and mass. He also has excellent training and retrieves items. His main advantage, however, comes in his warnings. When Fiona is near dangerous places or suspicious individuals, he will growl in a very distinctive way.
Weaknesses:
Fiona is not athletic, and lengthy running or different activities puts the girl at a distinct disadvantage to the point of slowing down and wheezing, or seeming being unable to succeed in what she set out to do. She, also, for all of her mild mannered, composed state, does not have a handle on her fear. If something scares her badly, she will panic and run blindly, often tripping and falling to the ground in her hurry. Her screams often give her away, as she's very vocal when encountering something that strikes fear. She also has been known to faint at times when she can't handle the situation--almost always concerning her family. She also has the dumb horror-trope stereotype of standing and watching when she should be running, but hey, sometimes that has good effects as well--then you know exactly what's chasing you.
Hewie's main flaw is that he rushes to attack and defend for the majority of the time. Doing so puts him at a disadvantage at times, allowing him to be more hurt than was necessary.
History/AU History:
Eighteen year old Fiona Belli is unsure about some of her past from before the past year. A car accident is attributed to that, with both parents--Ayla and Ugo Belli--as victims. Ugo's marriage was not approved, and because of that, they were estranged from the main portion of the Bellis. She had a normal childhood, and went to a university, to which she was returning from for holiday when the accident happened. Her remaining family took her from England to their family's castle in Europe after the incident--a gigantic place with apparently only four residents: her grandfather, Lorenzo, her uncle, Riccardo, the maid, Daniella, and the mentally disabled groundskeeper, Debilitas. The seeming kindness on their part was quickly shattered, as Fiona grew to suspect the residents that resided within of strange behavior and murderous tendencies. The first inclination of anything wrong was that even though they told her she had inherited the castle, she was not allowed to leave.
She grew used to exploding the ancient place, and one day found a white German Shepherd tied up named Hewie. After rescuing him, he became her constant companion, both protector and only friend. She tried to regain her memories of the prior time period, remembering the car crash, and the basic facts of her life but nothing more--other than a mysterious man leaning into the car after the accident. The maid was unnerving, and her uncle spoke madness, but things were nothing but creepy at that point. Her grandfather seemed to be for Fiona leaving the castle, but the decrepit old man was rarely seen. It was around this time that Debilitias took an unhealthy fascination to her, likening her to one of his many dolls. He hunted her for many nights, making Fiona get used to the idea of fleeing and hiding until it was habit. This continued until one night the three had a final battle. Fiona set a trap to stop him, but spared his life in the end. Because of this, Debilitias started to see her as something sacred, instead of a toy.
With one ending, something else began, however, and the maddened maid, Daniella, picked up the slack. With her frantic giggles and statements of not being complete, Fiona became wary around the woman. The water only rippled until the night Daniella broke, crashing her head through a glass window and chasing Fiona with the intent to kill. In was then, in her flight, that Fiona learned that her family was involved in many occult rituals--finding bodies and alchemy experiments, along with a plethora of other things. Hewie remained with her in her flight, and together they explored the new places they had found within the house.
Daniella, however, wouldn't be deterred, and continued to haunt them. At times, the woman seemed almost sane, cleaning the castle like there was nothing wrong. Fiona's ease was shattered, however, when she walked in on Daniella cleaning the fireplace, and the woman attacked her with a hot poker. The maid ranted to Fiona about how she was both filthy and precious, a contaminated pretty princess. She continued her assault until reaching a large windowed chamber, and in her attacks, shattered the glass within. The shards killed the woman instantly.
Riccardo had been kind to her, in his way, but after that, the madness in him deepened. He came after her with a gun, claiming she had a mystical power she could give to him if she carried his child and made him reborn. He also boasted that the car crash was his own doing, and that her father was alive after the accident, but Lorenzo then killed him. She remembered the crash in details, then--a car running them off the road and a man stabbing her father. Frightened, she fled again, dipping into more demented secrets as she tried to escape the man. He was adamant in his chase, and ended up shooting Hewie before whisking her to a laboratory secreted away. Her dog had survived, however, thanks to her quick help, and helped her find a way out of her cage. It had been too late to fully save her without blemish--he had given her hallucinogens, and the remaining time at the castle was meshing with flaming skeletons, living corpses chasing her, and bodies dancing to life. Riccardo himself, seemed invisible as he followed them again, but even so, in the resulting skirmish, fell off the cliff nearby.
After that, Fiona was more than resolved to leave her maddened family, and the now peaceful Debilitias attempted to help her, giving her the key to the front gates. Lorenzo attempted to stop her, dragging his broken body to chase her down the stairs and pleading to her about what was inside her and calling out, before eventually dropping the act and threatening her in every way possible. He claimed to have created her father and uncle, and that what was inside her belonged to him, that it would make him immortal. She did not respond to his crazed cries, merely nodded at the groundskeeper, called her dog to her side, and finally left.
Reason for traveling to Rokkenjima:
After escaping her crazy family at the Belli Estate, Fiona tries for a vacation to soothe some of her tattered nerves. As always, Hewie is with her, constantly guarding her by her side.
Can you and your character handle the graphic nature of this game?
She has just seen her only remaining family go increasing mad to the point of murder and attempted murder. Her uncle supposedly killed her father, and was planning on raping/impregnating her to have him be "reborn". The maid's madness and behavior towards Fiona outclassed anyone else's, and her death was particularly shaking. But more than anything, the hunts of the four residents was something that would stay with Fiona, and even though dead bodies and gore will be horrifying to her, it won't be until they get up and start chasing her that she's really afraid.
RP Sample:
They couldn't... That wasn't possible... That wasn't.... "No," the girl moaned. "Not... not again...." At her side, Hewie's hackles were raised, his constant growling a background noise to the sounds of shifting flesh sliding across bones.
The creature shuddered feet away, organs drawing in to settle in their respective places. But it... It had died! She had seen it! It had.... Fiona's breathing became more labored as she watched in horror as an arm shot out, grabbing the concrete ground. Her gasp echoed, a scuffling as she shifted backwards. Hewie followed the motion, moving up as if to herd her back. She should run. She needed to run. She needed to--
The second hand followed the first, the raw finger bones grating against the ground. Fiona's hands raised to her mouth, a whimpered cry escaping her. This was too like that place, too much like those... those visions she had seen, drugged and out of her mind. But this was different! This was in the real world, not locked away in a horror filled castle! This was supposed to be different!
It raised up then, a parody of a person, and she wasn't sure then if it ever had really been one. It grinned at her, eye sockets empty but for a beetle burrowing outwards. She gagged, clutching her mouth. Hewie barked.
In that moment, it shot forward, propelling itself with its arms like that nightmare had long ago. She screamed without thinking, and turned to run, tripping over her feet in her haste. "Hewie!" The cry was familiar even to her own ears, just as the sound of his growling overlapping with the sounds of him biting down into giving flesh. A nightmare. Again. She had escaped this. She had left this behind.
She swallowed it down and clenched her teeth, one tear dripping down. She shoved both hands on the ground, pushing up, and took off in a run--something familiar once again. Arms pumped and already her side burned, already her eyes were darting for places to hide. She had left this. And now she had to escape it again. A glance over her shoulder was all she allowed. "Hewie! C'mon!" The sound of four padding feet quickly caught up, and the pair darted away, still running from nightmares. She had thought she was through with running.
